African Hope Committee’s (AHC) mission

Through our network of referral services and dissemination of health, immigration and social welfare information, the African Hope Committee’s (AHC) mission is simple and clear. Our mission is to serve as a bridge between mainstream service delivery systems and the newly arrived immigrant population, creating partnerships that will advance the mission of the corporation. The African Hope Committee is comprised of professionals from a myriad of backgrounds including health, education, and legal who have between them over fifteen (15) years of experience in community outreach and service. As concerned New York City residents, the members of AHC have compiled information and referral service networks that facilitate positive behavior modification strategies in assisting the newly arrived immigrants in staying physically, emotionally, and socially healthy.
Consider that the U.S. immigrant population is growing and estimated to be about one third of the U.S population by the year 2005. Consider these statistics from the U.S Census 2014 compiled in August 2015 by Jill Wilson of the Migration Policy Institute, New York City hosts the largest African immigrant population, a population that is steadily growing. Of the African born immigrants counted in the 2014 census, 56% (498,927) entered the country between 1990 and 2014, the largest migration in over twenty years.
Servicing this growing population is vital to the positive growth of New York City’s communities. Whenever you need information and referrals that will service the needs of the newly arrived immigrants, just give us a call.
Join the African Hope Committee in assisting the needs of the growing immigrant population in New York City. Join the African Hope Committee in building healthy, happy and productive communities one family at a time.
